Tasty Simmered Daikon Tortoise Shell 大根のこっくり煮 | Japanese Cooking Video Recipe

In Japanese, people call this dish "大根のこっくり煮 OR 大根のべっこう煮". 大根=Daikon. こっくり=Tasty. べっこう=Tortoise Shell. 煮=simmered.

My daughter had this dish at her elementary school and said it was good, so I decided to recreate it at home. Pork belly slices are commonly used but if you think pork belly has too much fat, use any portion you like :) I used affordable pork shoulder trimmings 👍

Daikon radish is from my son's Daikon digging at Kindergarten BTW 😉

Rice is a staple food in Japan. If we cannot use a rice cooker, we can cook in a pot. Using a plastic bag will save dish washing at the time of disaster. Or even at camping.

Rainbow Cake Birthday Party (7years 5years) 🎂 Nov 20th, 2021 | Japanese Cooking Video Recipe

We held Kids’ Birthday Party on Nov 20th, 2021 🥳
Nov 20th 5years. Nov 29th 7 years.

Daiso party decorations were pretty gorgeous 💖
This year, I gathered rainbow unicorn decorations 🌈🦄

Rainbow Cake

Rainbow Cake

I used 2 packages of this Sponge Cake Mix to make 6 layers of 18cm (7inch) Rainbow Cake:

I bought the cake liners at Daiso to save time cutting parchment paper, which is a pain in the neck 👍

To make ONE layer of 18cm (7inch) sponge cake, you mix the below ingredients with an electric mixer for 1.5 minute. Then bake in the oven at 170C (338F) for 7 minutes.

* 66g (1/3 bag) of cake mix
* 1 egg
* 1 tsp. of water + food coloring
When you make the blue layer, please remove the egg yolk, or the cake will become green obviously 😅

Simply put the whipped cream between the layers. White cream let the colors stand out 🌈 Enjoy!!!

Koala's March Chocolate Candy House | Japanese Cooking Video Recipe

This homemade kit includes Koala's March and the best selling snacks from LOTTE: Toppo, CRUNKY Wafers, and Ghana milk chocolate. The kit is not necessary. Each snack is available at stores.

What other tools you need:
double boiler
hot water
spoon
knife
cutting board
plate or a try

As seen in the instructions, there are two houses you can make, a big one or a small one, but there’s only enough candies in the kit to create one house. Be careful ;)

It also contains 3 different backgrounds for Christmas, Valentine's Day, and one you can use all year round. They are so cute!

Koala's March Chocolate Candy House

Aside from chocolate house you can also create a seesaw, a bench and a slide using leftover pieces, so don't eat them too soon!

Last but not least you can put Koala's March around the house and in the playground. You can spend even more time decorating the house! Be creative :)

This kit is sold offline at about 10 bucks in Japan. Bit expensive online.

What’s Koala’s March?

Koala's March is a bite-sized biscuit confectionary with a chocolate filling. One of 365 different lovely koala characters is printed on each biscuit :)

4 tbsp. granulated sugar
4 tbsp. heavy cream or milk
