Peking Duck @ Koumibou

Hi there! As I said on Friday, my bf and I went out to eat Peking Duck with my family on Saturday. I think it's been almost half a year since we all gathered together! My family live very close, only a 30 minute walk away from my house, but we just didn't have a chance to see them. Funny, right?!

Anyway, we've been to Koumibou (creative Chinese restaurant). I wrote about this restaurant before. Last time, we couldn't have the Peking Duck because the portion was too big for two people. However, this time we could! But still, a whole duck was too big for six people, so we ordered half a duck. Ramen that uses the broth of the duck was really delicious!!!

Other dishes we had were great, too! Especially "the salad with fried rice cake pieces" and "marinated bonito" were fabulous. We had a great time!

This weekend was sunny, so I didn't have a chance to take a picture wearing my new rain boots. Sorry jose! But I wore a dress that I bought at forever 21 in NY on this day ;) I also got this cardigan at forever 21, almost 7 years ago! I think they used to have much nicer clothes than now at that time... what do you think?!

It is getting cloudy now. We expect rain from this afternoon X(

Okay, I gotta go now.
I have too many deadlines due 31st...
See ya!!!

Midori-zushi

After so long, we've been to Midori-zushi yesterday!
Actually, we didn't have a chance to eat unagi (eel) on "Doyou no Ushi no Hi" (7/19), so we decided to have sushi for dinner! I don't like unagi, so my target was anago (conger eel). He-he ;)

As I wrote before, Midori-zushi is very famous for delicious low price sushi and there is always a huge line in front! (They have menu in English down on this page!) We've been to Midori-zushi located in Shibuya for many times, but first time in Futako Tamagawa! Every time when we get there, there are more than 50 individuals or groups waiting so we ended up eating at other restaurants. However, good thing about this location is that they give you a numbered ticket, so you can go shopping and come back later. Many people take advantage of it, so you have to wait for more than 1
hour though X( This time, we went there to get the ticket at around 17:00, so we could be seated after 18:00!

Seasonal fish (bonito) salad was great! Also, I liked roasted saury and roasted tuna sushi. Their "sushi neta" (fish) is huge and delicious. Laver paste sushi was surprisingly yummy! Of course I had anago ;)

We also had a couple of drinks but our total was only 5000yen ($50). What a great value! I wish I could go there again soon!

Gorgeous Ikura and Kani Sushi Roll

Is it already summer break here?! Our work today is so slow that I don't even want to use my brain for today's dinner menu...

Anyway, last Saturday, we ate out at Izakaya (a type of Japanese drinking establishment) called Hananomai. We sometimes go to Izakaya not to drink but to eat because they have many small dishes at low prices! We were actually heading for kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi restaurant) but we changed our mind after seeing this attractive ad of seafood from Hokkaido!!!

Don't you think the sushi roll on the left bottom image attractive?! Ikura (salmon roe) and kani (crabmeat) are sprinkled over a pile of sushi rolls.

It came like the image above! Pretty good but somehow they brought this at the very end... which was too bad because we waited for a long time. We should have said to the waiter that we want it first!

This is all for today!

Maybe tomorrow, I will start translating my recipes.

I can't wait to attend the hula class tonight!!!

Bye for now ;)

Grilled Chicken Sandwich @ Grey Dog

Good morning! It is already the last day in NY! Time flies... I am using my bf's iPhone to write my post because somehow our pc is not connecting to the Wi-Fi service since day before yesterday...
Yesterday morning we had delicious chicken sandwich! We happened to find the cafe while walking :) Pressed warm with mozzarella pesto and roasted tomato. Yummy!!!

I will post the pic (and more pics) when I got home ;)

I miss NY!!!

Nougatine @ Jean Georges

Jean-Georges's egg benedict and smoked salmon omelet were perfect! The eggs were cooked deliciously soft! Also, I loved the jam they serve, which was Sarabeth's.

For dinner, we went to Morimoto (famous modern Japanese restaurant in America) but it was so-so... Not for Japanese I guess...

Awayuki Soba

What kind of soba do you like?

Soba is a type of thin Japanese noodle made from buckwheat flour. It is served either chilled with a dipping sauce, or in hot broth as a noodle soup.

My recent favorite is "Awayuki(snow) Soba" which is soba with grated yamaimo(Japanese mountain yam). It is mucilaginous when grated and looks like snow, so this is why it is called like that. After eating soba, I love to drink the broth diluted with yam. It is really delicious! My favorite soba restaurant is located near the station: Hakone Akatsukian. They use good seasonal ingredients, so I go there once in a while. Day before yesterday, since I was tired (slept only 1 hour), I had a dinner there with my boyfriend after work. The yam contains nutritional elements that are effective in relieving fatigue, so I think I got well ;) Sorry my photo is bad X(

Anyway, recently I came across very nice serums.

Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Serum
Daily use of skin care products containing proven anti-oxidant ingredients is, together with a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables, the most effective and proven method of minimising the effects of free radicals. Used daily, this remarkable formulation provides potent skin protection together with perfectly balanced hydration for dry, combination and sensitive skin types.

Herbal Recovery Gel
A potent botanical concentrate, infused with a rich blend of herbs and precious plant oils to restore, firm, hydrate and revitalise the skin. Helps to minimise the visible signs of ageing with daily use.

I tried both samples but not sure which to purchase. Hmm...
Anti-Oxidant ingredients are catching!

We expect no rain until possibly Wednesday. Hope this is true.

Take care ;)

Chicken Taco Rice

Today, I had lunch with my co-workers. We had tacos lunch at a Mexican cafe called Vida Rosa. I liked their interior. The place was pretty fashionable ;)

I had a lunch menu: Chicken Taco Rice & Soup + Onion Potato + Drink.

It was pretty good, but I ran out of time to finish everything, since I talked too much! He-he ;) Also, I brought my camera with me but forgot to take a shot... damn!

Anyway, I had a good time!

I just organized my posts.
I added links on the left sidebar, under ABOUT THIS BLOG, to view "Cafes and Restaurants" and "My Travels". I couldn't apply labels to every single posts but I hope you find them interesting ;)

I have too many things to post... Hmm...
I will try to complete them one by one + day by day when I have enough time.

Tonight I have hula class. I can't wait to attend!!!

Aloha :)

Homemade Tsukune

I was going to post this and couldn't for a while! Time flies!!!

2 weeks ago, my boyfriend and I had dinner at Keishouan in Shinjuku. Wow! They are on the coupon site (Gournavi) in English! They have many healthy chicken dishes, fresh vegetable dishes, and tofu dishes!
Their homemade tsukune is cool! Tsukune is a japanese chicken meatball most often cooked in yakitori style. At Keishouan, you can select toppings for it. We tried 5 different flavors: teriyaki mayonnaise, special, scallion miso, mentai mayonnaise, and spicy tsukune. They were all delicious! I think I will go there again someday ;)

It's cloudy and humid today. I hate the rainy season.

Stay dry :)

6th Anniversary!

June 7th was the 6th anniversary since my boyfriend and I had met. Being blessed with fine weather, we had a really good time!

Early in the afternoon, I had a plan to go to an audition (for a talk show), so I went to hair salon to have my hair set. Then in the evening, I made plans with my boyfriend to have dinner.

He took me to the restaurant called "The Restaurant Sky" in Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza.

The Restaurant Sky is an Italian restaurant offering cuisine created with fresh, seasonal organic vegetables. The restaurant is located on the 16th floor. We had a prix fixe dinner while enjoying the fantastic night view of Tokyo.

There are 7 appetizers, 5 pastas and 6 main dishes in which we may choose our 3 favorite dishes to compose our dinner. For a big eater, you may choose all 3 dishes from main dishes, which is cool! We selected 6 different dishes to share ;)

I will list what we had (from left to right, top to bottom):
- Mushroom Soup
- Homemade Bread
- Choice 1: Prawn & Avocado / Shrimp, avocado, asparagus and salsa verde
- Choice 2: Tuna Mille-Feuille / Tuna, eggplant and saffron mayonnaise
- Special Vegetable Plate
- Choice 3: "Hinai" Chicken / Roasted chicken stuffed with spring vegetables risotto, pommery mustard sauce
- Choice 4: Today's Pasta / Chicken cheese cream penne
- Choice 5: Today's Main Dish / Anago (conger eel) meuniere
- Choice 6: Lamb / Roasted lamb, chick peas and lentils soup

For dessert, my boyfriend ordered me a special dessert plate and gave me a rose :) I thought we cannot complete the dessert since we were full, but surprisingly, those sweets weren't that sweet, so we could eat them all at once!

I was worried about the bill, so I threw a quick look at it and found it wasn't that expensive! I asked my boyfriend why and he said he used a coupon! He is cool ;) I don't want him to spend way too much ;)

That's all for yesterday!

Fresh LOVE forever :)
