Nabe or Nabemono is a Japanese hot-pot dish that we enjoy in fall/winter (cold season). Easy, tasty, yet healthy! Stay home. Enjoy a hot pot with your family. Have a warm and cozy winter!
No-Bake desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth without using an oven. Here are 20 recipe ideas but there are more and most Japanese Wagashi (sweets) are made without oven, if you know 😉

FYI: In Japan, many people own Combination Microwave Oven. I use Convection Grill Microwave: it can grill, steam, bake like a convection oven, and function as a regular microwave. Back in 2005 I used National (now Panasonic) Bistro NE-SS30A for 7 years. Now since 2012 I use Panasonic Bistro NE-R3500 for 8 years. My sister still uses the former one! They are pretty long lasting :)
Most Japanese sweets don't require an oven maybe because it was not common to have an oven at home in old days?!
These are my favorite dishes which my mom used to cook when I was living with her. I wrote these recipes when I was in my early twenties. Now after over a decade, I don't even remember what other dishes she cooked and so does my mom 😵 During this quarantine, I want to take time to reflect and recall more other recipes if possible 🤔💬
It seems like I liked her potato dishes 😋💕 I haven't posted the recipe yet but her Chive Gyoza and Baked Chicken with Crispy Potato Flakes is super delicious. I will someday soon❣️
As you can see, I uploaded my mom's cooking videos earlier in the year when I started my channel. They are very important to me 👍
In 1948, the government renamed the Tango no Sekku (端午の節句) to Kodomo no Hi (こどもの日), children's day, to respect children's personalities and to celebrate their happiness. But Tango no Sekku event is held on the same day because it is a traditional festival to pray for the health and courage of boys.
Easter decors are available in Japan but we don't mainly celebrate it in here in Japan, maybe only for a specific group of people. Around this time, people enjoy Sakura or get ready for Kodomono-hi on May 5th 🎏I made these videos because I used to live in the US and I came up with some kawaii ideas 🐣💖
The Japanese Doll Festival (Hinamatsuri), or Girls' Day, is held on March 3rd.
On this day, we set up hina dolls (hina-ningyo) since they are believed to protect girls from bad luck, and pray for the healthy growth and happiness.
The dolls consist of the Emperor (odairisama), Empress (ohinasama), three court ladies (sanninkanjyo), and five musicians (goninbayashi) in traditional court dress of the Heian period.
Osechi-Ryori is traditional Japanese New Year's food eaten during the first three days of the New Year.
Each dishes that make up Osechi-Ryori has a special meaning celebrating the New Year (such as good health, fertility, good harvest, happiness, long life, etc...) and those dishes can last for a couple of days in the refrigerator or at cool room temperature in winter. Usually, they are served in Jyubako (重箱: three-tiered bento boxes). In the first tier, we serve colorful festive dishes such as shrimp, black beans, sweet chestnuts, etc... In the second tier we serve Sunomono (pickled dishes) and Yakimono (grilled dishes). And in the third tier, we serve Nimono (simmered dish) called Nishime (simmered Japanese vegetables).
I prefer to cook a lot of Savory dishes and buy small portion of sweet dishes. Nowadays, stores are open 365 days and you can get food during the holiday season so there is no reason to cook a lot of sweet dishes and save till the holiday is over 😅👍
