My Accomplishments

The other day I wrote that I gained 4 pounds of muscle, and I believe I have gained more by now. But at the same time I am gaining weight :( I know that the muscle is heavier than fat but it fears me a lot, you know...

As usual, I will list my recent accomplishments. No wonder I couldn't post this yesterday because I've been really sleepy.

On 9/25, my "Ketchup Miso Stir-Fried Pork and Cabbage" and "Western Style Green Pepper, Carrot, and Egg Kinpira" appeared on Kagome's recipe card and website. Those are going to be used for their promotion.

On 9/26, it is not a contest but I won a diet set meal by submitting my diet recipe: Soy Beans and Tomatoes Tantan Rice. This project was organized by Doctor Kitchen at edita (community website: they give out free samples of many different products).

On 10/1, I won the Posting Award at a tomato recipe contest by Toyota. Toyota has cute pop cars called PASSO and this contest was to promote their cars. I don't know which one was elected though...

On 10/3, I won the Natto Prize at mizkan's bushi tsuyu contest. Bushi tsuyu is a dried bonito flakes based broth. It is very tasty :) I mixed this broth with mayonnaise and umeboshi (pickled plums) to dress vegetables.

On 10/5, I received the Diploma of Merit for sushi project that I wrote before. This was cool! Because mostly I receive my awards in printed out papers or by e-mail!

On 10/6, my blueberry Chinese stir-fried recipe won the Dried Wild Blueberry Award. The contest was organized by Wild Blueberry Association of North America (English site is here) at Cookpad as usual.

Then on 10/6, I won the Outstanding Performance Award at Asahi Food & Healthcare. They manufacture health care products, yeast extract, organic foods, and freeze-dried foods, such as chunky ingredients. Aim to be a creator of wholesome living styles. They asked us for healthy diet recipes so I made "Healthy Microwave Cooked Okonomiyaki".

Unfortunately, all of those are not the highest... you know X(

Yesterday it rained hard until afternoon as predicted! Hopefully we have no rain today, which is good because I'm gonna take a day off to see my high-school friend (she is a nurse). I'm seeing her almost after 2 years because she was busy and our holidays were different! Anyway, on Sunday I ate rice crackers and my braces broke off again. Gee! But luckily, I could book to see my orthodontist this morning!

Okay, I gotta go.
Bye for now!

My Accomplishments

Yesterday was cloudy with a chance of rain and today it is going to be cloudy throughout the day. Is it because of the weather?! I thought yesterday was Saturday and slept until the last minute in the morning!!! But thanks for my workout, I could run fast and catch my usual train! That wasn't my purpose of training though...

You know what!? I am keep on losing big contests... :(
But anyway, I will list my recent accomplishments.

On 9/20, I won the "Cheeza, goes good with alcohol award". Cheeza is Ezaki Glico's new rich cheese snacks. Cheeza comes in 2 flavors. The red one is cheddar cheese and the black one is Camembert cheese. They both contain more than 50% of real cheese so they taste really real!!! Glico asked us to create party recipes using Cheeza or their other product called Cratz. I didn't use Cratz, but I used Cheeza and submitted 3 recipes. Very surprisingly, my most simple one, "Cheeza Mini Pizza" won the prize! I just microwaved Cheeza with pizza cheese and sprinkled shichimi togarashi (seven flavor chili pepper)... No one knows what will win!

On 9/22, I won the "Lee Kum Kee prize" at oyster flavored sauce contest organized by Cookpad. Lee Kum Kee is the world renowned leader of oyster flavored sauce which is the basic ingredient for countless Chinese dishes. I stir-fried pork and shishitougarashi (Japanese green peppers) with the oyster flavored sauce, vinegar, and grated sesame seeds! Vinegar refreshes the taste and the sesame seeds are savory! Those goes great with the oyster flavored sauce! My boyfriend loved it :) My post is here.

On 9/25, my "Salty-Sweet Pork and Eggplant Rice Bowl" was published in a food magazine called Lettuce Club. I have posted 60 recipes on their website. This month, they picked up mine and introduced it on P.120. It was a very small article but I am glad that mine was selected!

Then last but not least, my fellow blogger Nazarina passed me this gorgeous award: Brillante Weblog - Premio 2008! Thank you!!! This is my first award in a foreign country :)

Okay, time to go! I need to prepare for my next challenges ;)
Have a good weekend!!!

My Accomplishments

Yesterday was nice and sunny but the rain is expected Today through Sunday because of the autumn rain front and typhoon #13. This typhoon suppose not to approach Kyushu area, but it changed it's direction and predicted to pass the east coast of Japan (Tokyo area) soon :( We have a holiday (Autumnal Equinox Day) on Tuesday the 23rd, so hope not rain till then...

It's been a while so I will list my accomplishments today.

On 9/4, my "Healthy Chicken Bowl" recipe was published in a magazine called Sutekina Okusan (Nice Wife). They featured economical recipe ideas in a saddle-stitched brochure of October issue and mine was introduced on P.37!

On 9/15, I won the vegetable sommelier prize at the recipe contest (organized by Cookpad) using Pokka's vegetable potage (powder soup) products. Their vegetable potage products are additive-free. They separate flavors by the color of vegetables, which is cool! The image below (on the right) is their product line.

This time, I used White Vegetable Potage which includes the total of 20 different kinds of vegetables such as cabbage, daikon radish, and onion! I made "Chinese Style Creamy Stir-Fried Vegetables" by adding the potage. My boyfriend loved it, because it was deliciously thickened with the potage and harusame (bean-starch vermicelli)!

Needless to say, I lost the others... But I really can't believe because some of them were perfect! I will show you someday if I feel like it.

You know what!? Yesterday, I had a call from haircolor product company (because I sent them an inquiry) and they told me that the color is permanent :( I was so shocked that I don't really like this dark brown... My boyfriend says he likes it, but he's just saying, I guess... I have long hair, so that means I need to wait for more than 2 years to regrow!!! Hope it washes out a little...
Well... I called my hair salon and they told me that they can decolor it, so there is still hope... (it damages hair though...) Life is not easy!

Snap out of it! See you again!

My Accomplishments

For the past few days, it is raining all over the country because the cold front is stuck over Japan. Yesterday morning, the probability of rain was 90%. However, I saw bright sunshine whole afternoon. Strangely, this sunsine encouraged me a lot :) I sometimes believe in probability and give up before trying something, but this shows the hope! Am I over the top?!

Today I will list the rest of my accomplishments this month.

On 8/12, I won My AJI award at Ajinomoto's rice bowl recipe contest using their umamichomiryo. Umamichomiryo is the seasoning that makes the food tasty. It is made of amino acid, which is the tasty flavor of tangle (an edible seaweed). My winning recipe is "Sausage and Vegetable Bowl". I used umamichomiryo to bring out the flavors of sausage and vegetables I used.

On 8/18, my "Japanese Spice Stir-Fried Beef, Mushrooms, and Asparagus" won the prize. The contest was held by Mercian (brewer) and they asked for the recipe that you can enjoy at home with their wines called uchigochi.

On 8/25, I won the outstanding performance award at metabo-help.com. Not the grand prize again... :( They asked for recipes to fight metabolic syndrome and help beat the summer heat. My award winning recipe is "Herb Chicken And Grapefruit Chirashizushi". I used grapefruit because it contains a fat-burning ingredient and it's sour taste goes well with sushi vinegar!

Then on 8/29, my "Mango Yogurt Soy Milk Mousse" was introduced at the very bottom of this page. I didn't win the prize though.

Yesterday evening, I left the gym ealier and that was right! It rained like cats and dogs for few hours when I got home!!! The forecast says the rain continues until tonight or tomorrow. I need to be careful.

I gotta go now.
Have a good weekend ;)

My Accomplishments

Hello! It is sunny again but we have high 95F (35C)!!!
It is better to go to work and cool off. Ha-ha!
We expect no rain for a week or so, which is good.

Today I will list my accomplishments as usual.

On 8/4, I won the special prize at Kadoya's sesame oil contest organized by Cookpad. They asked for creative recipes using their sesame oil. I made "Glittering Chinese Sauce Marinated Chicken Fillet". Don't you think these chopped bell peppers are glittering?!

Then on 8/4, I again got the honorable mention at shio-navi.com. shio-navi.com is the site to search & learn & evaluate about many different kinds of salt(mainly in Japan). This time, they asked for cold soup recipes using salt. My piece was "Easy Cold Tomato Soup". It is easy because I used tomato juice to make this ;)

On 8/7, I won the outstanding performance award at "sushi project" by iCommons Summit'08 in Sapporo. They put out a call for sushi recipes and designs from around the world, so that they can promote Japan's "sushi culture" to a new level, not just as part of Japanese culture but as a "world culture".
My prizewinning recipe is "Tomato Cup Sushi". I stuffed sushi rice and tuna salad in tomatoes. Those are juicy and easy to eat. The sweet and sour flavor of sushi vinegar matches perfectly to the tuna salad! You gotta try ;)
Regarding the sushi project, I was interviewed by Hana TV last Friday. It was broadcast on August 6th, only in Hokkaido, so I couldn't see. They said they gonna send me a DVD, so I'm looking forward to receiving it.

Now I am watching the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics!
I gotta stop now!

Have a nice weekend :)

My Accomplishments

It is very sunny here in Tokyo! We expect no rain for a week or so! But the sky is not clear... It's smoggy a little.

Okay. Today, I will list my accomplishments!

On 7/12, I won 2 dozen of Kirin Ichiban by submitting my Chinese recipe: Stir-Fried Chili Bean Sprout! It wasn't a contest, so I was just lucky enough to win :)
Surprisingly, my boyfriend was really happy with it! I asked him why and he told me that the beer I used to serve him was Happoshu (low-malt beer)! I don't drink beer, so I didn't realize it until then!!!

On 7/17, I won the grand prize at the Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg) contest! This was my second time to win the top prize :) This time, they asked for the summer sweet recipes using their eggs, and I submitted my "Danish French Toast with Lemon Sauce"! I wrote that I went to the cafe on 7/21, which was the prize.

On 7/21, I won "the Idea Pon Award" at Cookpad's Ajipon recipe contest. Ajipon is Mizkan's citrus seasoned soy sauce! They asked for stir-fried recipes using it and I submitted my "Ajipon Stir-Fried Colorful Vegetables".

On 7/28, I won 2 awards at mozuku recipe contest organized by Itoman Mozuku Sangyo in Okinawa. Mozuku (Cladosiphon okamuranus) is noodle-like seaweed which is mainly produced in Okinawa. My "Mozuku and Nameko Soup Rice Bowl" won the second prize (outstanding performance award) and my "Ginger Vinegar Marinated Mozuku Tomatoes" won the third prize!

Then today, on 7/30, my "Watermelon Broiled Eels on Rice" was introduced in the Cookpad's e-mail newsletter as an amazing summer treat recipe ;)

I'm changing my story! Speaking of summer, we need to be careful of food poisoning! There was a news that 5 people fell ill with food poisoning at a yakiniku restaurant! The source of food poisoning was Campylobacter! It is said that chicken is the most common food implicated as the source of Campylobacter contamination. Any raw poultry - chicken, turkey, duck, goose, game fowl - meat and its juices may contain Campylobacter, including organic and “free range” products. We Japanese sometimes eat those raw, so we need to be careful, or cook thoroughly!!!

Tonight, my boyfriend doesn't need dinner, so I am kind of lazy not cooking anything!
It's OK sometimes ;)
