My Accomplishments

Now again it is time to list my Accomplishments in November!

On 11/3, I attended the finals of SPAM Recipe Contest 2010. Details are HERE.

On 11/3, my Montblanc-Like Egg Salad was broadcast on CookTV. HERE, you can view the video of it! As its name suggests it looks like the sweet but actually is salad. hehe ;)

On 11/4, I attended the award ceremony of the Quick Scallop Recipe Contest held in Hokkaido. Details are HERE. The ceremony also appeared on the news. The award-winning are now on the web.

On 11/15, my Tandoori Okara Chicken Nuggets was appeared on P.81 of a recipe mook (magazine book) published by Kodansha.

On 11/11, my Sweet And Sour Potato Pork Roll won a prize and received 3 packages of frozen vegetable. Delcy sells frozen vegetables and they asked for bento recipes using their products.

On 11/18, 10th person has photo reported my Neapolitan Stir Fried Cabbage. Instead of using pasta, I used cabbage to cook spaghetti Neapolitan. Real healthy and yummy :D My darling loves it!

On 11/30, my Miso Mushrooms Marinated Matcha Soba received the highest award at Tomisen (soba dealer)'s website. Like I marinate greens, I marinated Matcha Soba, which is made of green powdered tea (the tea used for tea ceremony).

On 11/30, 10th person has photo reported my Tuna Egg Sandwich! Oh, btw, the photo reports are available down the page I linked. Sorry the site is in Japanese.

And I received the Smile Award at ABC Smile Recipe Contest and the Idea Award at Asadaame Contest, but not big enough to write about.

It is funny that the recipes I think good don't receive an award but those I don't put that much effort always get a place...

Life is not easy!!!

Happy 101 Award

I received this Happy 101 Award from mica of baby love. She has a good eye for fashion and I'm glad she likes Japanese stuff, too ;) Her blog is so sweet posting about cute stuff she bought online! Since I don't shop that often, I learn a lot from her!!!

With this award, I am supposed to list in 5 words, my blogging philosophy, motivation and experience...

1. LOVE (Always)
2. Creative Cooking (This is my motivation for cooking!)
3. Happiness (I simply love the word "Happy")
4. Cute (I love cute stuff)
5. Informative (I want to share many things about Japan. Foods of course but daily stuff in Japan as well!)

And now, I will pass on this award to jose of Jose's Diary!!! She is such a hard worker! She always tries her best which I should learn from her. She recently started to learn about the cosmetics (makeup) besides her work and I was amazed by her change. I think to stay beautiful, we simply need to do our best to find what make us beautiful! Taking the second best does not improve. That's what I always learn from her.

Last but not least, my darling bought me the Beaujolais Nouveau last night! That was really surprising! Of course I hugged and kissed him ;) hehe!

Have a good weekend :D

Quick Scallop Recipe Contest In Hokkaido

On 11/4, I attended the award ceremony of the Quick Scallop Recipe Contest held in Hokkaido.

The ceremony was held at Hotel Monterey Edelhof Sapporo. With Gutch Yuzo (who is a singer, entertainer, and cook), there was a talk show, and many fans gathered. It was a lavish party!

10 winners were selected out of 372 entries nationwide and invited to the party! Gutch Yuzo gave us the prize one by one with his comments.

At the ceremony, we were able to try out all the award winning recipes recreated by the hotel chefs! We had a good time. Surprisingly, there were 2 winners who we knew each other since the other contests in the past!!!

Anyway, my schedule was pretty tough. I had to work in the morning of 11/4 and in the afternoon of 11/5, so I left my office at noon and came back at noon of the next day!

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take a pictures during the ceremony, so I will post the pics later when I received from the organizer!

SPAM Recipe Contest 2010

Do you know SPAM?

SPAM is a canned precooked meat product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation. It's not the spam e-mail. he-he!

This afternoon, I attended the finals of SPAM Recipe Contest 2010. 12 finalists were shortlisted for this event! Our recipes were re-created by the food specialists (Yoko Hamada and her assistants), so we didn't actually have to cook our own recipes (except pros) which was free of care :)

Unfortunately, my recipe did not get a prize, but I had a fun time trying out all those creative recipes and seeing SPAMMY! He was really cute! Funny that he has looooooong legs!!!

The contest will be held again (in Japan) the next year, so I will definitely apply for it again! My darling loves SPAM, so I know he would enjoy my creations, too ;)

I will translate my recipe of Salty Sweet SPAM Pork Balls later when I get a chance. It's a perfect recipe for bento since it goes great with white rice. At the same time, it's a tasty appetizer for your sake!

My Accomplishments

Hi again! It's time to list my accomplishments in October :D

On 10/2, my La-Yu Nuts Furikake won the special prize at Kyoritsu Foods (food manufacturer). My recipe is super simple. I just mixed edible la-yu and walnuts together to give a fun texture! It goes great with white rice.

On 10/3, my Healthy Korean Style Udon won the award for excellence. It is a refreshing cold udon recipe for summer. I used hot Kimchi, and my trick is mixing yogurt! Believe me. Yogurt makes Kimchi tasty ;)

On 10/8, my Easy La-Yu Crab Fried Rice won the silver prize at metabo-help.com. Again, I used edible la-yu ;) The recipe is easy because I used a rice cooker. All you need to do is to put all the ingredients in a rice cooker and cook :D

On 10/12, my Rolled Potatoes won the award for excellence at the 35th anniversary campaign of Save the Earth Group. It was again held on twitter!!!

On 10/22 my Almond and Garland Chrysanthemum Mixed Rice was published in a food magazine called Lettuce Club (11/10 issue). It was introduced on P.124. It's a small article, but I am happy that mine was selected :D

On 10/31, my Salty Sweet Chicken Balls Nabe was published in the winter catalog of Kamada (dashi soy sauce products manufacturer). The recipe is very easy because I used a vegetable pack that contains all necessary cut vegetables for nabe ;)

USA residents only, so I can't participate in it, but there is an "Iron Foodie Contest" at Foodie Blogroll. The winner will receive a $200 store credit to Marxfoods.com! See details HERE ;)

Good Luck!!!

Jambalaya Original Recipe Contest 2010

Last Friday, on 9/17, the USA Rice Federation invited me to the finals of Jambalaya Original Recipe Contest 2010 held in Tokyo. 10 finalists cooked their original Jambalaya recipes. Mine was "Addictive La-Yu Jambalaya".

Jambalaya is a Louisiana Creole dish of Spanish and French influence. I used Taberu La-Yu for my recipe which is very popular in Japan this year!

The judges were from the USA Rice Federation, chef Kuniaki Arima from Passo a Passo (Italian Restaurant in Monzen Nakamachi, Tokyo), and a famous blogger Yummy-san!

The chef Arima was a fun person, so we could relax and cook at our own pace. Also, Yummy-san was a nice friendly person! There was a party after the contest and I could spend a lot of time with them (right top photo). I really want to thank the USA Rice Federation for this wonderful opportunity!

What I received was the special award. The prize was a dinner for two at Passo a Passo! Yay!!! Surprisingly, my recipe "Addictive La-Yu Jambalaya" was served at the buffet party, too! (left bottom image - the very right dish). Thanks!!!

The contest was broadcast live at USTREAM.

Changing my story, yesterday was a holiday, so my darling and I stayed home and worked on the wedding stuff but our scanner and printer broke X( We now realized we should do everything in advance!!!

Bye for now.

My Accomplishments

Today I will list my accomplishments as usual.
Not that big ones, though...

On 8/16, my Healthy Tofu Rolled Pork Steak Salad (which I translated lately) won the Garlic Pepper Award at GABAN's contest. I used GABAN's soy sauce-based garlic pepper dressing!

On 8/22, my Fish Sausage Mixed Sandwich was introduced on Nissui's website. I wrote about their fish sausage before. Their Fish Sausage is made of minced white fish using no eggs. It contains 300ml of calcium / 85g. Great snack for kids!

On 8/20, my Colorful Meat Rice Bowl was introduced on Delcy's website. They have sold frozen vegetables for 30 years! They recently held a campaign and asked for recipes using their products that can help beat the summer heat! In my recipe, I added ginger and vinegar to give a refreshing after taste!

On 8/22, my Balsamic Tomato Ramen using Myojo's 中華三昧 (Chukazanmai-soy Sauce) was introduced on their recipe card! It is a very refreshing summer ramen using tomato and balsamic vinegar :D

On 8/23, my Cat Eating Fish won the Catharine Award. The contest was to submit recipe ideas related to the movie character: Cats and Dogs. I made a cat face using Dorayaki (a type of Japanese confection which consists of two small pancake-like patties made from castella wrapped around a filling of sweet red bean paste) and let him eat Taiyaki (a Japanese fish-shaped cake with red bean paste).

On 8/30, my Acerola Smoothie won the Acerola award. I added Acerola beverage into my everyday smoothie made with banana, yogurt soymilk and collagen powder! Acerola contains a lot of Vitamin C which is required for the synthesis of collagen.

Time flies... It is already September. My long-awaited wedding which we planned last year is coming soon in October!!!

Hope my darling and I can stay healthy ;)

My Accomplishments

Time flies. Now it's already time to list my accomplishments in July.

On 7/7, my Natto Curry Fried Rice was published in a food magazine called Lettuce Club (7/25 issue). It was introduced on P.112. It's a small article, but I am happy that mine was selected :D

On 7/8, my Sesame Fried Fukujinzuke Pork Rolls won the award for excellence at Shin-Shin corporation's fukujinzuke recipe contest. They asked for Mother's Day recipe using fukujinzuke. Fukujinzuke (福神漬) is one of the most popular kinds of pickles in Japanese cuisine, commonly used as a relish for Japanese curry and rice.

On 7/15, my Gochujang Miso Mayonnaise Minced Meat Rice Bowl won the 2nd award at beef and pork mince recipe contest. Spicy but mild taste makes you want to eat rice ;)

On 7/27, my Chive Gyoza won the award for excellence at Asahibeer's contest. This is my mom's recipe. Chive has a hint of onion flavor. It smells a little like garlic but you can gain strength from it ;) Yummy!!!

Last but not least, I submitted my darling's picture to Sapporo Beer Black Label photo contest. Can you find him here?! He-he ;)

Have a good weekend!!!

My Accomplishments

On 6/13, my Creamy Soy Egg with Savory Tomato Bowl was printed on the recipe cards. I love to add milk or soymilk and mayonnaise in the egg mixture because it makes the egg soft and smooth when you heat and scramble. Those tomato chops are marinated with salt and sesame oil. Very simple but savory. Mmm!!!

On 6/20, my Teriyaki Pork Egg Rolls won the appetizer award at the Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg) contest! I rolled up thick omelet with pork and sauteed with teriyaki sauce. Mmm yummy ;) It is a great egg recipe to go with the beer!

Regardless my enthusiasm, I received only 2 awards in June X( Also, my blog submission was rejected since I lack recipe contents... Maybe I could concentrate more time and energy on the contests and my recipe stuff after March 2011 when I moved to a new home. Of course I will still do my best meanwhile.

Time to go!
Have a good day ;)
