My Accomplishments

Hi! We are blessed with fine weather every day. I wish we could have more new year's holidays!!! My work started from yesterday :(

Today, I will list the rest of my accomplishments last year.

On 12/13, I received a copy of recently released Taiwan version of sweet recipes book which of the Japanese version was published by Cookpad in 2006/11. My recipe (Ginger Cheese Pancake Christmas Tree) is on this book, too. Can jose read this?

On 12/25, my Spiral Salmon with Black Vinegar Sauce using black vinegar won 3 bottles of black vinegar juice! This recipe is very healthy and interesting ;) I rolled nutmeg seasoned cottage cheese and shiso (Japanese basil) with smoked salmon, and poured dashi flavored black vinegar sauce.

On 12/26, I won a family award at Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg)'s contest. I hope I won... I mean, my name wasn't listed on their website but on their e-mail newsletter, which was confusing...

Last week, I counted the numbers of awards I received in 2008 and found not that many... I have been trying this contest stuff for about 3 years, but maybe it might be time to go on to the next step! Will see... I will try to move on this year!
But every time when I feel a pressure in my life, I try to think that I should be happy being healthy. Why do I want further?!

Changing my story, yesterday, I saw on the news that Wedgewood went bankrupt! Couldn't believe it!!! I wasn't that fan of the brand, but I feel sad since I knew the name for a long time...
Waterford Wedgwood files for bankruptcy

We don't know what might happen the next :(
Best wishes for our future!!!

Sukiyaki

Hello. It is raining today. The forecast said this gloomy weather will last till next week. Too bad...

Yesterday, I cooked sukiyaki using the beef I won. It was really delicious!!!

Anyway, I have a very bad fortune today. This morning, my braces broke, I forgot my cell, the train delayed for 15 min, I heared that my cake I sent for the submission was hard when it arrived, and I lost the yodoran contest, which I really wanted to win. I somehow felt I'm gonna lose, because there is a certain rule that the same person won't win in a row... but kind of shocking if you make an effort, you know!!!

Hope the rest of my day ends peacefully :(

---------------------------------
Sukiyaki

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30min
Number of servings: 3-4

Ingredients:
400g (0.8lb.) thinly sliced beef
1 yaki-dofu (grilled tofu)
8 musubi shirataki (bundles of translucent konnyaku noodles)
6 shitake mushroom
2-3 long green onion
1 nama-fu (fu is made from wheat gluten which absorbs the broth)
200g (0.4lb.) shungiku (garland chrysanthemum)
beef fat (or cooking oil)
1 cup (200cc) warishita (commercially available sukiyaki sauce)
fresh raw eggs if desired

Quick recipe for "warishita": 1/3cup sake, 1/3cup mirin, 1/2 cup soysauce, 3tbsp sugar, 1/2cup dashi broth.

Directions:
1. Cut yaki-dofu into bite sized pieces. Boil musubi shirataki 2-3 minutes in order to skim the scum. Remove stems and cut shitake mushrooms into half. Cut long green onion into 7cm (2.5inches) slices on the diagonal. Cut nama-fu into bite sized pieces. Cut shungiku into half.

2. Melt beef fat in Nabe (large casserole) and move around to oil the entire base. Cook few slices of long green onion, add beef, cover and steam until half-cooked. Then remove the beef and set aside.

3. Add vegetables and "warishita", and simmer until half-tender. Then put back the beef and simmer until everything is done.

If desired, serve with beaten fresh raw eggs.

My original recipe in Japanese is here.

My Accomplishments

On 6/13, my Creamy Soy Egg with Savory Tomato Bowl was printed on the recipe cards. I love to add milk or soymilk and mayonnaise in the egg mixture because it makes the egg soft and smooth when you heat and scramble. Those tomato chops are marinated with salt and sesame oil. Very simple but savory. Mmm!!!

On 6/20, my Teriyaki Pork Egg Rolls won the appetizer award at the Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg) contest! I rolled up thick omelet with pork and sauteed with teriyaki sauce. Mmm yummy ;) It is a great egg recipe to go with the beer!

Regardless my enthusiasm, I received only 2 awards in June X( Also, my blog submission was rejected since I lack recipe contents... Maybe I could concentrate more time and energy on the contests and my recipe stuff after March 2011 when I moved to a new home. Of course I will still do my best meanwhile.

Time to go!
Have a good day ;)

My Accomplishments

Belated post, but I will list my accomplishments in April.

On 4/12, my "Black Sushi Rolls with Fruity Millet Tuna Curry", which won the prize for participation at the Millet Recipe Contest 2010, was posted on Japan Millet Association's website. Also, the report of the day was posted here. Can you find me?!

On 4/26, my Takoyaki Croquette was introduced on CookTV (TBS). The video is HERE. Sorry in Japanese X(

On 4/25, I won the special award at soy milk recipe contest. Sorry, no image available for this one.

That's it! I'll try to do better this month!!!

My Accomplishments

Hi! I am finally listing my accomplishments in November.

On 11/4, I won the special prize at at Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg)'s contest. I made dashi based curry soup with an egg.

On 11/23, my Creamy Christmas Tree Salad using Takanashi's fresh cream was posted on Cookpad as a sample recipe using fresh cream. To make it creamy, I mixed avocado paste and fresh cream in mashed potato. Then mixed smoked salmon, cream cheese, and corns for the ornaments. The recipe was also printed on the recipe card!

On 11/25, my Egg Stir Fried Tomato and Ashitaba won the idea award at ashitaba recipe contest. Ashitaba is a green leafy vegetable, containing antioxidant flavonoids (chalcones) and is rich in amino acids, vitamins and minerals ( A, B, B2, C, B12, Iron, Potassium and more), chlorophyll, enzymes and fiber. To tell the truth, it has a strong scent and scum, so it was hard to cook X( Have you ever tried it?! BTW, the iseebi I posted the other day was the prize!!!

Also, on 11/21 I received a prize for participation at green lemon contest and peanut contest.

As usual, I won some samples. Seasoning for rice with green tea, mannnanhikari (rice shaped konjac food) sample, and GABAN dressings.

Could be better... I think I need to try harder X(

All the best!!!

My Accomplishments

This morning, before the sun rises high, I ran outside instead of going to the gym! It is nice to run outside once in a while.

Time flies. April is almost over... Before I forget, I will list the rest of my accomplishments.

On 4/1, my Tomato Salt Cake won the silver prize at Yukishio salt (snow powder salt) contest. The salt is made in Okinawa, Miyakojima and won the prize of gold medal of Monde-Selection for third straight year since 2006. The salt contains a world record of mineral element varieties and it has been registered in the Guinness Book of Records. As its naming suggests, it is fine powder, and is the best match for eating tempura with and preparing the cooking with. It can enhance the flavor of the ingredients from the cooking. Furthermore, these days it attains much attention as applied for massage salt and bath salt.

On 4/6, my Chinese Style Pork And Shimeji Steamed Rice won the grand prize at the Lee Kum Kee's oyster sauce recipe contest held by Cookpad. Lee Kum Kee is the world renowned leader of oyster flavored sauce which is the basic ingredient for countless Chinese dishes. They asked for recipes that brings out the rich flavor of oyster sauce. My recipe will be used for their flyers, too.

On 4/12, my Curry Simmered Whole Onion won the gold award at Inoue spice contest. They sell curry products and spices over the Internet so they asked for recipes using those.

On 4/13, my Soymilk Stir Fried Juicy Freeze-Dried Bean Curd won the outstanding performance award at soymilk contest.

On 4/15, I again won the Outstanding Performance Award at Asahi Food & Healthcare's diet recipe contest. I submitted my "Avocado Milk Yogurt Drink". Instead of using sugar, I used Calpis (lactic acid beverage) for health.

On 4/23, my Bonito and Edamame Rice Bowl was featured as "today's choice" at recipe-blog (the recipe site I'm registered). I had a lot of visitors to my Japanese recipe blog on that day!

On 4/25, I won a prize at Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg)'s contest. The theme was Tamagokakegohan (rice bowl with raw egg). I submitted Salmon Avocado Italian Egg Rice Bowl. Actually, I don't like to eat raw eggs, but it is a popular way of eating eggs. Most people just pour soy sauce over the rice and egg, and mix. What do you think of it?! I found a video of it... wow...

Then as usual, I won some sample products, again. Smart cheese, healthy salt, bling-bling pen, flavored seaweed, hand towels, soft drink, cereal rice, and deodorant mist.

Golden Week holidays are from 5/2-6 according to the calendar. But some people are off from today since today is a holiday. I had to work on the 30th and the 1st. Boo!!!

Anyway, my boyfriend and I have a plan to stay a night at a hotel in Odaiba (Tokyo). We aren't going that far since everything is expensive during the holidays. It is wise to stay local ;) Maybe I will go to work during the holidays and take days off later. That might be a good idea ;)

Now I am leaving to have some coffee at a cafe, repair eyelash extensions, and have a dinner date with my boyfriend. I hope everything is fine with me...

Oh, be careful of the swine flu! WHO raised pandemic alert to phase 4... How scary... We don't know what will happen the next...

Let's take care!

My Accomplishments

Hello. The wind is in the south, so we have very warm and comfortable temperature. Needless to say, it is going to rain in the afternoon :(

As usual, I will list my recent accomplishments.

On 11/7, I finally won the grand prize at QBB's cheese recipe contest! QBB is a company located in Kobe. They manufacture and sell cheese and milk products. Also they sell nuts, margarine, and chocolates (such as Lindt). Every year they ask people for recipes using their products. I have been applying for this contest since 2006, and finally I did it! My awarded recipe is "Cheese in Pork Ball, Black Vinegar Sauce".

On 12/1, I won the cranberry award at Cookpad's cranberry recipe contest. The top prize was Home Bakery which I wrote before. Like I said, I put a lot of effort into it, but it was just my luck... Anyway, my "Chinese Style Cranberry Steamed Rice" was awarded.

On 12/1, my "Christmas Shiratama Dumplings, Healthy Tofu Custard" was posted on Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg)'s website. They asked me and others who regularly post recipes to create sample Christmas recipes using their egg. Shiratama is mochi-like dessert dumplings. I poured a mixture made from tofu + egg + sugar + vanilla flavoring. It really tastes like custard ;)

Then on 12/3, my seasoning recipe received a prize at kondateclub: the site introduces seasonal dishes. Every month, they ask for some recipes based on a topic. I sometimes apply for it, but I never got a grand prize and this time as well. I need to try again. My awarded seasoning is balsamic vinegar + sesame oil. It is really good! I have some recipes using this seasoning:
- Italian Gimbap
- Italian Japanese Natto
- Japanese Balsamic Salmon Tartar Sandwich
- Sesame Balsamic Cream Cheese Sandwich
Sorry, those recipes are in Japanese...

This week I was going to translate my recipe but didn't have a chance to :( I will try the next week!

Yesterday, I had eyelash extensions done! 55 eyelashes for each! They last for 10-30 days depending on how you care!!! You can't use mascara, scrub your eyes, sleep on your tummy... etc. Honestly, too much to care! To keep beauty is not easy.

Again, I'm gonna see my friend after a long time this afternoon. Hope it won't rain hard...
Have a good weekend :)

My Accomplishments

These are my accomplishments in February.

On 2/5, I won the bronze prize at beauty nabe recipe contest. My nabe was "Brown Rice Porridge Shabu-shabu Nabe". Four judges actually sampled the nabe and critiqued. My dad told me that in China, people commonly eat rice porridge nabe. Is that true, jose?

On 2/6, my Creamy Udon Gratin won the milk award at the milk recipe contest organized by Sankei Shinbunkaihatsu (Newspaper Developers). The prize was 2 dozens of milk cartons. Luckily, my darling loves to drink milk! Me?! I don't really like to drink milk...

On 2/24, my Valentine's day recipe "Lovely Dots Crunchy Chocolate" won a prize. I combined hina-arare (pastel colored rice puffs) with pink strawberry chocolate :D

On 2/24, I won the silver award at deco-choco (chocolate decoration) contest. It was a contest to decorate a chocolate bar. I made a 3D picture frame! My darling loved it! I still have it displayed in the hallway ;)

On 2/27, my Mango Chocolate Mousse won a special prize at Yodoran (iodine-enriched egg)'s Valentine's day contest. I just used egg yolk to make it yellow :D

It is rare, but the oyster recipe contest was canceled on 2/20. They say there weren't sufficient number of applicants.

I sometimes question myself. "What am I doing everyday!?" Now it's already mid March... Time flies in routined life!!! Maybe it is time to add or change something. What if I change my stay-at-home life, cooking...

Have a good weekend!!!
