Candy Game Machine

The temp these days is around F90 (32C), with high humidity!!! It's like a sauna outside. Too tired to take a walk. The weather in NY was really moderate and dry. I wish we have a weather like there...

Anyway, on Sunday, my boyfriend and I passed in front of the game parlor and I found a candy game machine with a pile of chocolate bars almost dropping in. I asked my boyfriend to try once (not spending my money, he-he!) but he scooped only one candy, so it didn't help. Then I tried once, but I couldn't scoop any... We tried for about 5 times and then the pile leaned on the glass... We just thought it was hopeless, so we stopped playing.

I didn't really want the chocolate bars but why the game so attracting!!!

K-1 WORLD MAX 2009 World Championship Tournament

Do you like K-1?

K-1 is a martial arts fighting sport which fuses centuries of tradition from martial arts such as karate, kung fu, tae kwon do and kickboxing (the "K") into a thoroughly modern and electrifying spectator sport, to determine the single best stand-up fighter in the world (the "1").

Until I quote this, I didn't know what K-1 actually is. Very interesting.

Anyway, today, my new hula CD arrived, so I was looking forward to practicing hula. But unfortunately, there is K-1 WORLD MAX 2009 broadcast from 9PM (30min later)... My boyfriend is looking forward to watching it, so I ended up giving up practicing tonight. I believe Super Fight (Masato VS Tatsuya Kawajiri) gonna be exciting but none of the others X( Why boys like such a fighting sport. I wish we have more rooms at our home... (jo's bathroom is super fine!!!)

I will listen to the hula music in the tab. Thanks for the juke tower, I still have hope to enjoy! Ha-ha!!!

Aina O Ka Pua @ YouTube

I took a video of my hula in NY @ Central Park :)
I just organized the video and posted on my YouTube account.
It's not professional, though. Also, I forgot to smile. Ha-ha!

Do you have an account at YouTube?
I will only show this video to my blog buddies who keep in touch with me on a regular basis or Tipness club members who took this "hula hula" class. Please send me a request from my YouTube account. I will add you as my friend to share the video.

Hope you find it interesting.

The new term has started from this month! I hope I can post a video again after 3 months when I completed the term ;)

Bye for now!!!

Summer 2009 in New York

Our days in NY were really fast. Luckily, we enjoy fine weather with blue sky almost daily. I can't believe we are back in Japan now X(

I will select and post pics briefly since I fall behind in everything.

Bethesda Fountaint in Central Park with my boyfriend.
CHEESEBURGER Platter at Jackson Hole - topped with American Cheese with Bacon, Served with Steak Fries, Lettuce and Tomato. I ordered Veggie version of BALDOUNI BURGER instead of meat (which was light, healthy and delicious!): Topped with Fried Onions, American Cheese & Sautéed Mushrooms. We visited Ground Zero. Surprisingly, the site was still under construction. We had back and forth Staten Island Ferry trips. The ferry is free from lower Manhattan to Staten Island. However, since I had a glass of wine at Jackson Hole, I slept back and forth on the ferry...

The High Line: a 1.45-mile (2.33 km) section of the former elevated freight railroad of the West Side Line, in Chelsea along the lower west side of Manhattan.
Green grass and flowers coming out from railway tracks were beautiful. We had a nice walk ;)

July 4th dinner at our favorite restaurant josie's east. Grilled Natural Chicken Breast Teriyaki and Freshly Ground Char-Grilled Brandt Natural Beef Cheeseburger. We saw fireworks way back to hotel through 42nd Street.

We had brunch at Sarabeth's Kitchen. Their Popeye Eggs were really delicious!!! The weather was super fine on this day. We found many bridal couples at Central Park. How romantic :)

Don't you think these sculptures funny?! Water from Hello Kitty and Miffy's eyes... They were located in front of an office building.

We had a special dinner at David Burke which was $20.09! You can get an appetizer, main course and dessert of your choice ;) Everything was great for our last dinner in NY.

On the very last day, before the bus time, we went to Central Park. Under the clear blue sky, we had sandwiches and coffee for breakfast. I wished time could stop for us. Believe it or not, guess what my boyfriend said?!
"Let's come back again next year after the marriage."
Was that his proposal?!?! I was super happy. It was something more than I expected.

I need to confirm him about it, though. Ha-ha!!!

Grilled Chicken Sandwich @ Grey Dog

Good morning! It is already the last day in NY! Time flies... I am using my bf's iPhone to write my post because somehow our pc is not connecting to the Wi-Fi service since day before yesterday...
Yesterday morning we had delicious chicken sandwich! We happened to find the cafe while walking :) Pressed warm with mozzarella pesto and roasted tomato. Yummy!!!

I will post the pic (and more pics) when I got home ;)

I miss NY!!!

Nougatine @ Jean Georges

Jean-Georges's egg benedict and smoked salmon omelet were perfect! The eggs were cooked deliciously soft! Also, I loved the jam they serve, which was Sarabeth's.

For dinner, we went to Morimoto (famous modern Japanese restaurant in America) but it was so-so... Not for Japanese I guess...

My Accomplishments

Hi there! I haven't been listing my accomplishments for a while, so I will today ;)

On 5/21, I won the silver award at the nori(seaweed) recipe contest organized by Kagisho(seaweed company). I rolled bell peppers with nori and pork, which cross section looks like a kaleidoscope :)

On 5/22, I received a prize at MUJI's recipe contest. They asked for recipes using their stir-fried rice sauce products. I used bibimbap sauce and made healthy gratin cooked with tofu. The recipe is now available at stores ;) I found it displayed at the store in Shinjyuku.

On 5/25 my recipe won the special prize at the garlic contest held by the site called kenkokazoku: online shopping site of health food product. The prize winning recipe is "Stamina Stir-Fried Spinach and Peanuts". It was the second time I received the prize at this contest :)

On 6/3, my "Sunflower Tart" was introduced as the 2nd place in the newsletter published by cookpad.com. The theme was flower. Thanks for selecting my recipe!

On 6/8, I received a few boxes of Kamada's dashi soy sauce products. It was in return for using my stir-fried pumpkin recipe on their summer brochure.

On 6/10, I won the lemon vinegar award at Kit Kat recipe contest organized by Cookpad. They asked for healthy and cold summer sweets recipes. I made "Healthy Kit Kat Rare Cheesecake" using yogurt and cottage cheese.

On 6/10, my prize winning Korean style rice omelet was posted on manufacturer(daesang)'s website.

On 6/15, I won the gold medal prize at Marudai's eco recipe contest organized by Cookpad. I made Potato and Sausage Galette, cooking potatoes with their skin, garnished with homemade grape tomatoes and basil.

On 6/18, I again won the Outstanding Performance Award at Asahi Food & Healthcare's diet recipe contest. I submitted my "Chinese Style Stir-Fried Freeze-Dried Bean Curd and Colorful Vegetables".

On 6/24, I won Nominakama Award at Gekkeikan's contest. Gekkeikan has been making and selling sake ever since their foundation in 1637 in Fushimi (Kyoto). My prize winning recipe is "Wasabi Dressed Pork Rolled Avocado and Tofu".

Yesterday, I received Koh Kentetsu's autographed recipe book with his photo! How nice!!! I asked him to sign for ochikeron ;) It was the prize for Reed Healthy-Cooking Paper recipe contest.

Then last but not least, I won some samples: bifidus supplement, water face powder, shiroae-no-moto, UV makeup base, medicated moisturizing lotion, additive-free red wine, premium detox tea, and 3 weeks placenta.

I am leaving for NY next week, so I will come back here again after 7/7!

See you guys then :D
