Rice is a staple food in Japan. If we cannot use a rice cooker, we can cook in a pot. Using a plastic bag will save dish washing at the time of disaster. Or even at camping.

How to Make Chocolate Macarons (NO Macaronage NO Drying) Recipe

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 1hr + cooling time
Number of servings: 10 (1.5inch) macarons

Ingredients:
1 egg white
6 tbsp. granulated sugar
6 tbsp. almond flour
1 tbsp. cocoa powder
Chocolate Ganache
* 50g semi-sweet chocolate
* 50ml heavy whipping cream

Directions:
1. Let's make chocolate ganache first because it takes time to set. Microwave the heavy cream for 30 seconds or until hot. Break in chocolate and mix until combined. Transfer into a piping bag and put in the fridge for a few hours to cool completely.
2. Put egg white and granulated sugar in a bowl. Mix and melt the sugar over hot water. Whip with an electric mixer until stiff glossy peaks form. The mixture won't drip when you lift the beaters.
3. Sift in almond flour and cocoa powder, then gently mix with a spatula until combined.
4. Preheat oven to 200C (390F).
5. Put the batter in a pastry bag and snip off the end. Pipe out the batter into an inch and a half circles.
6. Bake at 200C (390F) for about 3 minutes. Then turn down to 130C (266F) and bake for about 10 minutes. Leave in the oven for 5 minutes. Then cool.
7. Pipe out the chocolate ganache onto the bottom-side of half the macaron shells. Match up with top shells to finish.

Amagi Kogen Onsen Hot Spring, Izu Shaboten Zoo Capybaras (Fun Stay Over Christmas!) | OCHIKERON

We've been to Amagi Kogen during over the Christmas 🗻 It is an Onsen (hot spring) resort located at an altitude of 1000m. The view of “Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay / Sagami Bay” from here is spectacular! There is no obstruction around 360 degrees and it is a great place to see the “starry sky". Many activities for the whole family, from children to the elderly!

Hotel Harvest Amagi Kogen has 3 concept rooms: CAMP ROOM, BIG BED ROOM, and BOOK & MUSIC ROOM! Also KIDS ROOM and CRAFT ROOM. You never get tired of staying here.

Izu Shaboten Zoo nearby is a great place to visit. The animals are surprisingly close and you can feed them. The zoo is known as the very first Japanese zoo to showcase capybaras soaking in hot springs. We walked by but missed it, tho 😅

Loved every moment. Kids got presents from Santa 😉 It was a wonderful experience staying here over the Christmas period 💖
