How to Make Japanese Creamy Sesame Seed Dressing - Video Recipe

I received many requests for sesame seed dressing. Those requests weren't that specific, but I am guessing they want the creamy one, which is very popular in Japan ;)

Japanese Creamy Sesame Seed Dressing

Difficulty: VERY Easy
Time: 3min
Number of servings: 2

2 tbsp. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. ground toasted white sesame seeds
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 tbsp. sesame oil

1. Please use freshly ground toasted white sesame seeds to make it flavorous.
2. Mix all the ingredients together.

*You can serve it with vegetable sticks as a dip.
*If you think the texture is too thick to dress a salad, you can add a bit of water (or dashi stock) to loosen up the texture.
*You can use unsweetened plain yogurt instead of mayonnaise. It will taste different but still good!

  1. Thanks for the tutorial! If I wanted to make a larger amount, how long do you think it would keep in the refrigerator?

  2. thanks for your comment :)

it is edible for 2-3 days or more if you keep it in the fridge. BUT the sesame seeds and vinegar will lose flavor... so recommend you to make it when you want to use it <3 it is very good when it is fresh~

  3. Do you use the Japanese or regular mayo?

  4. Thank you. Do you have a karrage recipe?

  5. yes!

  6. What kind of vinegar is that? Can you provide the brand you used?

  7. you can use either cereal or rice vinegar~ mitsukan is a very popular brand in japan!!!

  8. I'm looking for a recipe for a similar dressing. It is sesame based, but also has raw eggs in it. Do you have a recipe for that dressing?? Thank you.

  9. It is very impressive post and all pictures are so wonderful and creative.
