I prefer butter to shortening for cookies. How about you?! hehe

---------------------------------
Microwave Chocolate Chip Cookies

Difficulty: Very Easy
Time: 15min
Number of servings: 16-18 cookies

Ingredients:
100g (3.5oz. = approx. 1/2 cup) butter (softened)
50g (1.7oz. = approx. 5 tbsp.) sugar
1 egg
A
* 130g (4.5oz. = approx. 1.3 cup) all-purpose flour
* 1/2 tsp. baking powder
50g (0.8oz. = approx. 1/4 cup) chocolate chips

Directions:
1. Beat butter and sugar until creamy, add egg and mix well.
2. Sift A in 1. and mix well. Add chocolate chips and mix well again.
3. Drop 4 cookies (at a time) by teaspoon onto waxed paper on microwavable plate or tray.
4. Microwave at 500w for 3min (or less or more depending on the heat of your microwave). Repeat the steps 3 & 4 to complete the rest.

  1. I've never microwaved my cookies, do they really come out crunchy? butter makes better cookies to me, but I've tasted done with shortening is good too! Your video is very nice, and your voice is sweet! You're doing a wonderful job on your videos!!

  7. Hi suki,

    yes! you can bake but the cooking time is tricky... some people say a minute is enough to bake this cookie, so please test and see how it comes out in your microwave!

    Hi Grub,

    Oh… I'm sorry to hear about that X( I think Japanese microwaves are not that strong. My old microwave was glass-plate-kind but the cooking time was the same. Maybe a minute was enough for your microwave?!

    My microwave looks like an oven because it has an oven function, too. But same as microwave, the heat is not strong, so it doesn't easily bake foods nice and brown… which sometimes frustrates me! haha

  10. Hi jo,

    Now the comments are back after the blogger maintenance, so my replies are not in order X(

    Yes! The cookies come out crunchy :D

    Thanks for liking my videos. I have many to fix but I thought I should better move on than sticking to one, so please bear with the quality!

  11. I'm sorry to say, but like one of the above comments your microwaves are different to ours. I made these step by step watching you and i burnt my first cookie and there was lots of steam coming out the microwave and all the other ones were just all soft and didn't cook and when i put them in for longer they just burnt like the first time.

  12. thanks for the comment and i deleted the duplicate! the cookie is cooked from inside, so if you see brown outside, it is overbaked. and also it gets hard when cooled, so please wait. i think your microwave has more watts than mine?! maybe 1 min or less might be enough if you burned X( but you don't have to try it again because like you say, your microwave might be different...
