Store Brands

How often do you go for the store brands?!

I do very often! And my recent favorite is a bottle of red wine! This red wine is only about 6 bucks but it is pretty good :D :D :D I think I bought it for more than 5 times!!!

Value Plus is actually not a store but cheap suggested brand at many chain stores.

However, the store brands are not always better... you know if you have tried. LoL

First Marital Anniversary

It's been already a year since we filed our marriage paper!!!

On 11/22, we reserved an Italian restaurant called "Passo a Passo" in Monzennakacho, which was the prize for Jambalaya Original Recipe Contest 2010.

The dinner for 2 was worth 100 bucks per person! The special course of the day was gibier. Gibier means wildlife animal. Believe it or not, we had cave bear dishes!!! The cave bears grew up on oranges, so they don't have strong taste! All dishes were amazingly delicious!!!

For Pumpkin Risotto, the owner chef Arima used Calrose (California rice) which he newly harvested in California. It went great with Mozzarella in the center! Mmm!!! I couldn't believe it's the same rice I used for the contest...

And of course, the wine they served was really great! At first, I was going to try different kinds, but I stayed with Barbera del Monferrato Superiore 2003! The wine is made of classic grapes of Italy's Piedmont region. Fruity fresh wine but has a deep aroma. I love the way it tastes casual ;)

For dessert, we had pear compote. How come the chef knew that it was our anniversary!? On our plates, he wrote "Auguri (congrats)" and "Buena Felicita (best wishes)" :D

Thanks to the chef and his wife (she served our table)! We had a heartwarming anniversary.

Then last but not least, my darling gave me a sweet gift with an adorable message card. He wrote, "Please use this hand creams and let's walk hand in hand forever"!

Yes, I will!!!

Basilium Acherun Aglianico Del Vulture 2005

On the weekend, we again had a dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant "Mia Angela". The restaurant uses farm fresh ingredients from Hokkaido and cook them in the Italian way!

As usual, we shared dishes ;) Farm Fresh Vegetable Bagna Càuda, Oyster and Pancetta tomato spaghetti, Deep Fried Shima-Ebi Shrimp and Calamari, and of course Risotto Parmigiano!!!

As you might now know, I used to dislike oysters, but there, I could eat them! The oysters at Mia Angela are grown up on KELP! No wonder they're good!

And speaking of wine, Basilium Acherun Aglianico Del Vulture 2005 was today's special. I think there are many good Italian wines this year! It's a 5-year aged fragrant red wine! Tastes like ripe cassis. Very fruity and spicy vintage wine. It went well with all foods we ordered ;)

Tonight, we are going to celebrate our first marital anniversary :D We have so many eating-outs in the year-end! Hope not get pig X(

Tomorrow is a holiday (Labor Thanksgiving Day) again!

See ya!!!

Saladini Pilastri Novello Marche

Saladini Pilastri Novello Marche was a hit (for me) this year!

It's a fruity organic wine. It has a ripe cherry-like aroma with the taste of fresh strawberry and raspberry. Ruby red color is splendid!!!

I kept another bottle to pick up this weekend ;)

Vino Novello means "young wine" in Italian. Similar to Beaujolais Nouveau in France, it is a light, fruity, red wine produced in the year.

Novello is officially released for sale on November 6. Because of the time differences, I heard Japan is the first country to release it.

Oh, btw, Beaujolais Nouveau was released today (0AM), but I haven't tried it yet... gonna get one this weekend, too!

DOURTHE b Bordeaux Rouge 2006

I bought this wine at 10 bucks! It was produced by Mercian Corporation: Japanese wine and spirits producer and marketer, as well as pharmaceutical company. Just what I'd expected from Mercian, the wine was mellow and had a fruity aroma.

b Bordeaux means the wine is always well balanced as it is retained to seek the best flavor. The word "b" represents royal road of Bordeau.

However, since its bottle has a screw cap instead of a cork, I hesitated to get it but it was bingo!!! Thanks to my darling, he just asked me to try out :D

I can't believe it's already September. Actually, we changed seats at work X( Kind of uncomfortable till I get used to...

Hope to see you again tomorrow!!!

I again found a nice 10-bucks red wine :)

It's a powerful full-bodied red wine made of 100% Tempranillo grapes (in Spain), displaying vanilla aromas combined with spicy and fruity hints.

It pairs perfectly with beef stew or BBQ!!!
If you remember, my Beef Beer Curry and Rice would go perfect with it!!!

Enjoy ;D

MandraRossa Grecanico

Grecanico is a native Sicilian grape which produces a complex, aromatically defined white wine with citrusy fruit character.

I seldom drink white wine but I bought this wine since it was recommended at 980yen ($10) last weekend.

It was a sweet-scented tasty white wine! I bet red wine lovers would like it!!! So do I :D

Bricco al Sole Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Recently I found tasty organic red wine at a low price: $9! (My budget is always under $10 per bottle :P)

Bricco means "crest of a hill". The wine is made from grapes harvested on the sunshiny hill, hence the name Bricco. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is a red wine from the region Abruzzi in Italy. It is typically a fruity, dry wine with soft tannins, and as such is often consumed young. You can enjoy it with chicken and red meats :D

Anyway, it is raining again today... It seems like the rainy season has arrived already! I hope it won't rain on Friday since I am seeing my friends after work!!!

Bye for now :)

BTW, I made a new label for My Favorite Wines!
It is listed on the side bar!!!

Women's Wine Logo

Recently, I found that the wines with this logo meet my taste!

This "Women's Wine" logo (printed only in Japan) shows that the wine is made by women who produce wine with women's sensitivities. From north in Piemonte to south in Sicilian, there are 10 women winemakers who enjoy and live with wines. Do you know any of them?!

- Alessandra Boscaini: Masi
- Emanuela Stucchi Prinetti: Badia a Coltibuono
- Francesca Planeta: Planeta
- Francesca Colombini: Barbi
- Beatrice Contini Bonacossi: Capezzana
- Elda Felluga: Felluga
- Chiara Lungarotti: Lungarotti
- Maria Chiara Clerici: Valfieri
- Chiara Soldati: La Scolca

BTW, this cute logo is designed by Italian designer. It's design is based on the word "女" (woman) in Japanese Kanji.

It is raining today. My sore throat is not getting better... It heals after the GYM, though. Maybe I feel better when my adrenaline level rises! Ha-ha!

Hope hula heals me tonight :D

Rione dei Dogi Rosso Molise Riserva

Rione dei Dogi Rosso Molise Riserva is medium bodied red wine made from the Montepulciano wine grape in Molise (a region of Southern Italy). You can enjoy rich and fruity flavor of grapes.

This is the wine that my dad ordered at the restaurant the other day. I loved it :D

To tell the truth, I am not good at wines, but I list my favorite wines so that I can get them once again! And my list did help last weekend when I shopped at the wine shop! I usually try out new wines, but sometimes I feel comfortable drinking what I know!

Anyway, changing my story, I sometime wonder what my happiness is... I might write about it later if I feel like it!

Have a good day!!!

FOCATO Toscana IGT 2005

Yesterday, I bought a great wine at a supermarket! It was sold at $12. My budget was under $10 but I'm glad I changed my mind! The wine was mellow and tasty. It was easy to drink! I'm not well versed in wine, but I know what I want, you know ;)

This weekend was busy again. I went to try on wedding dresses again... There are so many beautiful dresses that I now can't make a decision! Hmm... The image on the right is another $20 bucks dress that I bought at 109 the other day :D

I can't believe it is already March!!!
Busy Monday + fore-end X(

I gotta go now! See ya!

Robert Mondavi

Robert Mondavi is an American wine. My dad bought it when he went on a business trip. Remember it or not, I posted the image on my Year-End Eatings post without any comment on this ;P It was very smooth and easy to drink!

Robert Mondavi Winery is one of the most respected in the world, and Mondavi is the man who is most responsible for the worldwide recognition of American wine making, as well as changing America's palate for fine wine and fine food.

How do you enjoy your wine?

I'm not good at wine, so I always check the recommendation and select wine which suit my food. In this way, it is twice as enjoyable!!! I drink wine with any kind of food, such as sushi :)

Tomorrow, I am going to play wedding dress-up again :D

No snow left today. It is going to get warm from next week!
Have a good weekend!

Beaujolais Nouveau 2009

Have you tried Beaujolais Nouveau 2009 already?

It is young and sour but not that bad ;D
I love refreshing wines, so I drink it every year.
Plus, it's an annual event, so I enjoy drinking it!

My boyfriend had a drinking session last night but he bought it for me.
We had a glass of wine before we go to bed.
Maybe this is why I couldn't wake up this morning...

It is freezing again today!
Monday is a holiday (Labor Thanksgiving Day).
Three days off in a row! Yay!!!

Need to create new recipes, though :P

See you next week!!!

Hi! The high temp today is 68F (20C)! Relatively warm ;)

Do you drink wine? Red or white?
I love red wine!

Last week, my boyfriend and I tasted a wine called "COPERTINO Riserva" at a department store. It was rich and mild with aroma of berry. Mmmmmmmmm :) The price was 1,000yen ($10), so we bought it without hesitation! It was a good deal!!!

It is already Friday. Time flies! This evening, I have a plan to shop at hula stores in Ebisu station. I found many Hawaiian restaurants there, too! Cool!!! I will get the pink pa'u skirt (the very left one) if I couldn't find anything better today!

I can't wait to finish work!!!

Happy Friday :D

Happy Drinking :)

I was slightly drunk yesterday, while cooking.
I don't drink every day nor do I drink in the kitchen, but I had to use the apricot wine (Shinluchu) for my recipe, so I had to taste it. The wine was fruity and refreshing! It was more delicious than I expected.

After a while, I was slightly drunk, and surprisingly, I was in good form! I had many deadlines due May 31st, but I could finish them within a time frame!!! My work came out pretty good, too.

Don't you think sometimes you get the idea for your art while drinking?!

I don't want to depend on drinking, so I don't recommend it, though...

Anyway, it is already June! Time flies!!!
I hope there is no rain this week...

Bye for now :)
